History of the Working Group in Wide-Field Imaging

The WG originated at the General Assembly meeting of the IAU in Buenos Aries in August of 1991. It stemmed from the amalgamation of two former Working Groups: the formal IAU WG on Astronomical Photography" and the informal group on "Digitised Optical Sky Surveys".

The Organising Committee comprises a Chairperson, Secretary and 8 Ordinary Members. The WG has a mailing list of some 200 active participants. Information is circulated to members by means of a Newsletter which is distributed twice-yearly. Large meetings are generally organised with a 2 or 3 year time interval.
