Mission Statement

Under the auspicies of IAU commission #9, the primary goal of the working group is to encourage and facilitate communication, interaction and exchange between people (and projects) who are working to create, process, archive, distribute, and use sky survey data across the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

Specifically we wish to provide a coordinated and centralized forum for --

• Assisting in general access to sky survey material (in all forms)
• Announcements (e.g. surveys, catalogs, archives, meetings)
• Technical developments (e.g. software, data processing, archiving, formats, compatibility)
• Encouraging the development and adoption of standards
• Discussion and resolution of relevant issues
• Facilitating collaborations to enhance scientific return

via the following mechanisms --

• "One-stop" Web Site to surveys and data
• Newsletter
• Email bulletins
• Majordomo mailing list
• Meetings
